Sign On Bonus Eligible: $30,000nnJob Summary:nnThe Registered Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory therapy procedures to examine, diagnose, and treat patients withnrespiratory and pulmonary disorders. The Respiratory Therapist assesses patient condition and consults with physicians tondetermine appropriate treatment plans, and monitors patient progress following procedures to evaluate the effectiveness ofntreatment. The Respiratory Therapist also documents all patient care activities and ensures they comply with the appropriatenquality of care standards and regulations of the department.nnResponsibilities:nn1. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jeffersonnn2. Administers physician prescribed respiratory therapy, including oxygen, respiratory medication, PFTs, ABGs, and all mechanicalnnventilation.nn3. Performs evaluation procedures, both invasive and non-invasive, to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriatennrecommendations based upon department protocols ultimately improving patient outcomes and facilitating patient discharge.nn4. Monitors patients requiring mechanical ventilation including clinical assessment, routine rounds, troubleshooting, weaning,nnairway care, and diagnostic testing to ensure the safety and appropriate care of patients.nn5. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood and breath specimens for diagnosis. Measures the patients lung capacity to determine ifnnthere are any impairments.nn6. Offers diagnostic results and treatment suggestions based on the analysis of the patient.nn7. Communicates with other health care team members to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.nn8. Assures smooth operation of the PFT and ABG laboratory, or other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.nnRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Proficiencies):nnProfessional competency in the science of Respiratory Care commensurate with the NBRC credential.nnRequired Experience, Education, Certification(s), License(s):nnGraduate of a AMA approved School of Respiratory Care.nLicensed by the State Board of Medicine or State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.nCertified in Basic Cardiac Life Support/BLS.nAssociate#39;s/2-year degree required.nRegistered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (if Certified or not registered by the NBRC, must obtain NBRC registration within 2 years of hire).nnPreferred Experience, Education, Degree, Certification(s), License(s):nnACLS and/or NALS preferred.nPrior experience preferred.nnCovid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jeffersonrsquo;s clinical entities or at the University.
