Job Summary Join our dedicated healthcare team in Charlotte, NC, where you will perform nursing care and assist with planning and implementing care for the comfort and well-being of patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. You will help maintain a safe working environment and perform all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. This role requires maintaining clinical and professional competency appropriate to the ages, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served.
Essential Functions - Participate in patient assessments by determining nursing care needs based on relevant data collection and interpretation.
- Recognize and determine the need for immediate intervention.
- Document patient observations, treatments, and responses to treatment utilizing the nursing process.
- Participate actively in treatment and assist with procedures.
- Assist with the development and revision of the care plan by providing data and identifying potential goals and interventions for review by the RN.
- Communicate with the appropriate clinical staff on the status of a patient if a significant change has occurred.
- Implement the identified plan under the supervision of the RN, ensuring tasks are completed.
- Stay aware of patient progress and goals as demonstrated by documentation in medical records.
- Organize workload and prioritize responsibilities to ensure quality patient care is delivered efficiently.
- Attain knowledge and competence that reflect current nursing practice and perform only those nursing skills within legal boundaries and facility policies and procedures.
- Document assessments, procedures, patient/family education, and communication of information to appropriate healthcare team members in a timely manner.
- Provide and assess the effectiveness of patient and family education under the direction of the registered nurse within the scope of practice as defined by law.
Physical Requirements The role requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. The applicant must have an intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch, finger dexterity, critical thinking, and the ability to concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and unit conditions. All applicants are required to undergo a physical ability test as a condition of employment.
Skills - Current LPN licensure or temporary license as a licensed practical nurse petitioner required.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from AHA required.
