We are offering a unique opportunity for an experienced attorney/legal counsel to step into a VP of Estate Planning role, specializing in Trust Administration, Estate Planning and high net worth matters. This is a great opportunity to join a growing financial company. This position can be remote, but you must be local to Michigan.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Consultation: Conduct in-depth consultations with clients to assess their estate planning needs and goals
- Gather relevant information, including financial assets, real estate holdings, and family dynamics
- Estate Planning Document Preparation: Draft comprehensive estate planning documents, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives
- Customize documents to meet clients' specific needs and ensure they comply with relevant laws and regulations
- Tax Planning: Advise clients on tax strategies to minimize estate tax liabilities and maximize asset transfer efficiency
- Stay updated on current tax laws and regulations to provide accurate and timely advice
- Probate Administration: Represent clients in probate proceedings, including filing necessary paperwork, managing assets, and distributing inheritances
- Handle complex probate matters, such as contested wills and disputes among beneficiaries
- Trust Administration: Administer trusts, ensuring compliance with trust terms and fiduciary duties
- Manage trust assets, distribute income and principal, and file tax returns
5+ years of relevant experience required
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan
Member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan
