The hiring salary for this position is $90,000.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Charge Nurse is responsible for the smooth and efficient patient flow within the clinic utilizing an integrated approach to health care and care delivery. A key priority is the maintenance of a safe and positive workplace culture. The Charge Nurse works in cooperation with Director - Health Services to ensure quality of patient care, optimal working environment, and enforcement of policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements state and federal regulatory guidelines for patient safety and educates staff about any changes in the laws and impact to care delivery.
- Enforces infection-control, medication administration and storage, controlled substances, and all clinical supplies, policies, and protocols.
- Maintains documentation of patient care services, ensures patient confidence, and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing.
- Organizes training of staff or introduces new procedures and protocols. Directs, mentors, and schedules staff, including communicating job expectations.
- Delegates assignments and provides supervision for nursing and support staff within their scope of practice.
- Responsible for work schedules, procedure schedules, assignments, coordination of meetings and provider communications.
- Delegates tasks and patient assignments to nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel. Effectively delegates nursing staff responsibilities during busy shifts.
- Collaborates with Office Manager in the identification and alignment of facilities work orders, follow ups, and completion. Collaborates with Office Manager in the collection of data for usage reports, trends, and cost analysis.
- Inventories and restocks nursing supplies.
- Monitors and assists with admissions, discharges, and follow-up visits for Health Services Clinic.
- Evaluates staff performance, provides input to the Director - Health Services, and recommends corrective measures, if necessary.
- Meets nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; and identifying system improvements.
- Builds a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information and responding to requests.
- Develops professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education:
- Associates degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience.
Licenses / Certifications:
- Registered Nurse license, with the ability to practice within New York State.
- Cardiopulmonary (CPR) and first aid certification.
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) Certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- NYS Infection Control Course completion, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree.
- Wound Care Certification.
- Previous work experience in a school clinic setting.
REQUIRED SKILLS - Proficiency in Medicat, or other Electronic Health Record (EHR) System.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills required.
- Well versed in HIPPA privacy and security rules.
- Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive issues with confidentiality and discretion.
- Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment with all levels within an organization.
- Display a high level of energy and self-motivation.
- Strong computer experience, which must include the ability to work effectively with Electronic Medical Records, MS Office Suite products, i.e., Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
WORKING CONDITIONS - Must be able to work nights and weekends as required by business needs.
- Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to physically respond to ill and/or injured students in other in areas of the campus.
- Ability to transport patients in a wheelchair.
- Ability to bend, stoop and kneel.
- Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds independently, and patients with assistance.
