The school nurse work with all clients- children, staff and families to ensure we have a safe and healthy environment to learn and grow.nnOur Nurse oversees the wellness of students which includes distribution of medications, COVID-19 screenings, staff medical in-services, maintaining student files with updated physical, immunizations, and intake paperwork. The Nurse also ensures building safety requirements are aligned with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene alongside our program director and facility manager.nnEssential Job Functions:nnAssist with providing direction and oversight for the medical component of the individuals served consistent with state regulation.nnHelp coordinate and/or deliver all nursing care procedures and related health care activities for assigned program.nnMaintain proper documentation for administering medication, treatment and assessment, and provide required reports as needed.nnMaintain ongoing, cooperative communication and collaboration with clients.nnImplement quality assurance and oversight of medication administering and nursing activities.nnMaintain ample medical and first aid supplies, adequate medications which are accurately labeled and securely store, and a safe and orderly medication area.nnTriage when necessary and, as needed, respond with emergency medical care until appropriate EMS personnel arrive. Prepare incident reports and inform all appropriate parties as required.nnObtain needed medical records and treatment as assigned.nnHelp train and supervise staff in relation to health safety and personal care to be provided to individuals.nnParticipate in staff meetings as necessary and act as a nurse consultant when requested.nnEnsure and maintain the cleanliness and safety of program areas and follow safety and infection control policies at all times.nnMaintain current state nursing license and required program certifications.nnProvide on-call emergency coverage as required.nnPerforms other duties as assigned.
