POSITION SUMMARYnnClinic LPN provides direct patient care and continually strives to attain the highest quality of care. They are responsible for assisting the physician and/or practitioner ensuring total quality care for the patient. The Clinic LPN will perform functions of a laboratory testing personnel and work closely with Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Lab to ensure compliance with regulations and procedures for obtaining specimens. They shall collect blood samples, perform laboratory tests, and submit results on specimens received and collected for laboratory analysis. They may perform limited functions in relation to radiology under the direction of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Director of Radiology or their representative. Clinic LPN will ensure compliance with Radiology state and federal regulations. They must work toward the achievement of the goals of Cuyuna Regional Medical Center.nnPOSITION QUALIFICATIONSnnEducation and Experience:nnPrevious LPN experience preferred, or graduate of a medical assistant program and achieve certification/registration within 1 year of hire.nnLicense/Certificates:nnCurrent LPN License to practice in the State of Minnesota, ornnCMA certification/registration with 1 year of hire.nnAmerican Heart Association BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.nnFor COLA, must provide diploma of highest degree obtained (minimum of High School diploma).nnSpecial Skills and Aptitudes:nnKnowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques gained through a variety of nursing experience.nnCompletion of specific education programs as recommended by the individual unit assigned.nnExemplifies self-direction with good organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.nnKnowledge and compliance of state and federal accrediting agencies.nnESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESnnDirect Patient CarennRoom and assess patients, anticipating appropriate preparation of the patient for the physician visit.nnAssist the physician with procedures and treatments as necessary.nnPrepare and administer medications or vaccines according to standard procedure and as ordered by the physician or standing order.nnOperate correctly a variety of pieces of medical equipment including, but not limited to EKG, tympanometry, suction, oxygen, spirometer, audiometer, nebulizer, wheelchair, and exam tables.nnAssist other LPN/CMA staff as needed.nnPerform or assist with dressing application and removals as ordered.nnInstruct patient appropriately regarding prescribed therapies and preparations for ordered procedures.nnIndirect Patient CarennDocument vitals, treatments, interventions, medications, and essentials notes in the patient's medical record according to clinic policy.nnStock supplies as needed in patient exam rooms and common storage areas.nnAssist physician and reception/scheduling staff in maintaining an accurate daily schedule providing efficient patient flow.nnAssist in coordinating lab tests, x-rays, consults, surgeries, hospital admission or other appointments as ordered by physician, seeing that all necessary authorizations are complete.nnCall or fax prescription refills as ordered by physician or standing order and document according to policy.nnFacilitate communication between patient and physician and provide general clinic information in a professional manner.nnManage voicemail.nnIdentify and follow appropriate procedures for emergency calls.nnProblem solve and secure alternate solutions as necessary.nnUtilize excellent customer service skills in order to positively impact the experience of care for our patients, and their families and other service partners.nnAttend nursing department meetings.nnCollect and process lab specimen.nnPerform general x-ray procedures, if applicable.nnDemonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned.
