General Description of the Position
General Description of the JobUnder general supervision, operate and drive passengers in automobiles, vans or buses. Operate trucks and other equipment in order to accomplish assigned tasks.
Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Essential Functions
The following are the functions essential to performing this job.
  1. Operate automobiles, trucks, vans or buses and accessory equipment.
  2. Load, unload and deliver supplies, equipment, foodstuffs, livestock, mail, freight and such items that can be reasonably transported by motor vehicles.
  3. Assist in the segregation of bulk and small parcel items earmarked for delivery.
  4. Maintain and keep vehicles in clean, operable condition.
  5. Operate material handling equipment, both manuals and powered.
  6. Maintain operation log and inventory records as required.
  7. Assist in storeroom functions such as receiving, sorting and issuing where such routine is related to the specific driving functions.
  8. Perform other related duties.

Qualification Standards
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Demonstrate ability to follow oral and written instructions.
2. Maintain and display good driving habits.
3. Familiar with rules and regulations pertaining to the transporting of passengers and operation of motor vehicles on intra-state roads and highways.
4. Demonstrate ability to handle situations involving transporting Faculty, Staff, Students and others.
5. Demonstrate ability to read maps and other road signs.
6. Ability to pass food handlers examination where handling of foodstuff is required.
7. Adequate skill in operating motor vehicles.
Qualification Standards
1. Education: High School Graduate
2. Successful experience: Two years of experience in transporting passengers.
3. Other preferences: Possession of valid State of Delaware CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with passenger endorsement. Good physical condition as required by the State of Delaware for operating motor vehicles and high moral character and neat appearance.
