This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Vice President – West Region of our Fire and Life Safety (FLS) Team to be located in the Denver, CO, Phoenix, AZ, Seattle, WA, or any of these California offices: San Francisco, Irvine, San Diego, and Los Angeles. This opportunity provides oversight of the FLS Team in the West Region with various responsibilities including, but not limited to, developing new opportunities with existing clients, developing new client relationships, leading multi-disciplinary project delivery as project manager/point of contact, working with local FLS office leadership to mentor and build staff in existing offices, developing FLS strategic plan initiatives to promote the growth of the FLS practice both financially and staff-wise, establishing new office locations and markets as part of the FLS strategic plan, and developing a full understanding and competency of the WSP financial systems. The ideal candidate will be a recognized leader in the fire and life safety industry, demonstrating technical expertise and leadership capabilities. Further, they will ensure that regional deliverables are consistent and are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. Your Impact Oversees the development and progress of local FLS leadership for the region. Responsible design authority for Fire Protection within the region in accordance with WSP USA standards and guidelines. Responsible for regional business development which should focus on FLS and include other WSP services whenever possible. Acts as a mentor for staff to assist in the development of their leadership, technical knowledge, project management capabilities, and familiarity with WSP policies and systems. Schedules and organizes regional team meetings, as well as regular training opportunities. Accountable for the profitability and financial management of FLS projects in the region. Regularly initiates marketing activities and leads marketing presentations. Project management of large projects and projects for key clients. Acts as project manager on projects involving multiple service lines. Demonstrates understanding and management of client’s expectations for project goals, budget and schedules. Responsibility for project accounting including budget monitoring, profitability, contract negotiations and timely resolution with clients. Has full responsibility and accountability for maintaining a portfolio of clients. Develops objectives to increase business with selected clients. Client networking, follow up on leads, follow-up participation in marketing meetings, strategy sessions, etc. Promotes all of WSP’s service offerings when interacting with clients or potential clients. Prepares proposals and responses to RFPs and participates at proposal presentations. Has full responsibility and accountability for client satisfaction and maintaining a steady level of repeat business. Delegates work properly to senior and non-senior staff; manages and coordinates the work. Ability to mentor staff on a project basis and assure continued advancement of staff from project to project. Identifying and mentoring future Project Leaders. Takes active role in industry events and in professional organizations. Lead designs for fire and life safety systems projects. Coordination and integration of fire and life safety systems with other building systems. Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred. P.E. License is required. At least 10 years’ experience in supervisory and project management capacity. 12 years of experience or equivalent fire and life safety consulting experience and qualifications. Experience in various types and sizes of projects including healthcare, science and technology, high rise commercial office and high-end high rise residential, hospitality, educational and mission critical. Experience and proven ability to manage projects and team in a fire consultancy environment. Strong working knowledge of building and fire codes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present information to clients. Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software. Extensive experience in working directly with clients. Compensation Expected Salary (all locations): $146,000 - $200,000 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
