Patient Health Assessment:
- Obtain, verify, and record patient health histories.
- Gather relevant health data through physical assessments, patient records, and laboratory specimen collection.
- Document patient visit information, including medication, allergies, and history in EMR.
- Refill medications as directed by the physician.
- Basic Patient Care:
- Provide basic patient care as ordered and administer medications and treatments.
- Assist other healthcare professionals in exams, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and minor medical procedures.
- Adhere to ID Care infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
- Explain treatments and procedures to patients, relay instructions to families, and manage patient calls.
- Environmental Responsibilities:
- Set up equipment following ID Care and departmental protocols.
- Clean exam rooms and equipment between visits to maintain infection control.
- Order, sort, store supplies, and restock exam rooms as needed.
Documentation: - Document assessments, interventions, health histories, patient/family responses, medications dispensed/prescribed, and test results in medical records.
Patient Education: - Promote wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician advice/instructions.
Clinical Responsibilities: - Prepare for physical examinations and administer drugs via various routes, including injections.
- Verify prescriptions against physician orders and apply dressings.
- Dispose of biohazard waste and monitor laboratory procedures according to OSHA guidelines.
- Conduct CLIA-waived testing, perform venipunctures, and handle specimens (urine, throat, vaginal, stool, sputum).
Supportive Care: - Reinforce patient and family education and provide supportive care under the direction of an RN or physician.
