Opportunity Highlights: - Novant Health System is searching for a system-wide Associate Director of Cellular Therapy, with a primary location in their headquarter city of Winston Salem, NC.
- We are a FACT accredited Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program, performing autologous transplantation and CART cell therapy with plans for expansion of capabilities this year.
- Our program currently has seven physician providers and 10 advanced practice providers (APPs) divided between the Charlotte and Winston-Salem sites. Although there is a high level of cross site collaboration, both sites operate independently for patient care including rounding and call coverage and providers cover just one site.
- The planned rounding and call schedule is 1:4 with the APPs taking 1st call.
- There is excellent support from the pathology department, blood bank, radiology, intensive care and other specialist services.
- With the addition of Dr. David Rizzieri, formerly of Duke University, to lead the Novant Health Cancer Institute, the successful candidate will join a robust and growing team of clinical researchers in Cellular and Immunotherapies.
- Novant Health has seen tremendous growth over the past 5 years especially in the Cancer Institute and our footprint has spread across the state guaranteeing continued growth.
- There is a brand new multi-million dollar Cancer Institute building located in uptown Charlotte. This new building includes an outpatient Cellular Therapy and Apheresis space with 12 HEPA filtered and monitored patient rooms built specifically to deliver outpatient CART therapy.
- Development of a similar State-of the-Art outpatient Cellular Therapy and Apheresis Unit in Winston-Salem has been approved and construction will start soon. We value clinical research and significant investment has been made to bolster services including the development of dedicated phase 1 units at both the Winston-Salem and Charlotte sites.
Candidate Qualifications: - Board-certified or board-eligible in Hematology and Medical Oncology
- The ideal candidate will have experience in hematopoietic cell transplantation and CART cell therapy.
- 3 years of experience post-fellowship preferred but not mandatory for this position, with a strong focus on patient care and optimizing outcomes through excellent translational research.
- Experience in the management of patients with multiple myeloma, lymphoma and acute leukemia is required and development of a sub specialization disease interest will be encouraged.
Responsibilities & Duties: - Patient population 18+
- The candidate will coordinate all aspects of stem cell transplant and CAR-T/TIL therapy for the Derrick L Davis Cancer Institute, a main component of the Novant Health Cancer Institute, located in Winston Salem, NC.
- As system-wide associate director, this successful candidate will coordinate with the system-wide director in the development of treatment algorithms and trial opportunities for patients needing autologous or allogeneic stem cell transplantation for the entire Novant system, the 9 th largest health system in the country with active FACT accredited transplantation and CAR-T programs in Winston Salem and Charlotte, North Carolina.
