Job Description

The Estimator is a key member of the Bre-Ex Construction Inc. team - providing knowledge and experience in sourcing, bidding, and closing heavy civil and related projects of various sizes in Southern Ontario.


Bre-Ex Construction has grown to specialize in heavy civil construction, site grading, general contracting, utility/electrical services, land development and aggregates.


The ideal candidate will have the desire, work ethic and experience to estimate and provide analysis of high profile infrastructure renewal, water & sewer, road reconstruction, environmental reclamation and land development projects.


Responsibilities

  • In consideration of project complexity, location, size and duration - cost estimation of labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors and transportation/logistics for heavy civil, infrastructure, and electrical construction projects.
  • Lead the estimating team, ensuring estimates are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Research historic tenders and bid data, provide summaries to the Sr. Leadership team.
  • Support the Project Management team in preparation of contract change orders and other miscellaneous tasks.
  • Upon successful award, support the Project Management team with selection of sub-trades, ensuring that project safety, quality and profitability targets are maximized.
  • Research and source price trend information for materials and equipment from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Review and analyze subcontractor/supplier bids and negotiate pricing to obtain competitive and cost-effective solutions for projects.
  • Identification of potential cost uncertainties and provide risk analysis for the Sr. Leadership team.
  • Maintenance and upkeep of construction and cost database – verifying that correct pricing methodology has been utilized.
  • Participate and lead project development initiatives, analyzing market trends and new project potential.
  • Assist the development of other team members on contract language and interpretation via training and mentoring throughout the construction process.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior Estimating in heavy civil construction experience.
  • Professional level command of English to create detailed proposals, progress reports and communicate with interested parties internal/external.
  • Advanced command of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
