Job Description

Our client is currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join their team. This role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates for projects within construction and industrial environments. The ideal candidate will excel at analyzing project specifications, collaborating with stakeholders, and delivering competitive, well-structured estimates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates by evaluating labor, materials, and equipment requirements.
  • Interpret project documents, such as plans and specifications, to identify key scope details.
  • Research and assess quotes from subcontractors and suppliers for inclusion in estimates.
  • Utilize historical data and cost models to enhance accuracy and align with project needs.
  • Format estimates to meet client requirements and maintain compliance with best practices.
  • Conduct site visits when needed to understand project conditions and requirements.
  • Collaborate with design and project management teams to ensure estimates reflect project details accurately.
  • Participate in planning sessions, providing cost insights and contributing to strategic decisions.
  • Prepare preliminary schedules and work plans as part of project proposals.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, vendors, and team members throughout the estimating process.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimation, preferably within construction or industrial projects.
  • Proven track record with projects of varying sizes and scopes, ideally ranging from $1M to $50M.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret project documents and identify critical details.
  • Proficient in estimating software and standard office tools such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, scheduling, and execution planning processes.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate data entry and calculations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under deadlines.
