This position will be responsible for performing direct nursing care to individuals in a correctional facility. The successful candidate shall demonstrate a valid Illinois License and good oral and written communication skills, be a self-starter, and be able to carry out nursing pursuant to the direction of medical personnel in a correctional setting. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply.nnEssential FunctionsnnMakes rounds with physician to monitor and report on patients' progress.nExamines, recognizes, and interprets symptoms of residents.nOrders medical and other supplies.nPrepares and administers medication within the limits of authority.nParticipates in completing orientation and in-service training of employees.nPerforms other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.nnMinimum QualificationsnnRequires Illinois license as a Practical nursenRequires one (1) year of practical nursing experience.nn**This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.nnPreferred QualificationsnnPrefers at least one (1) year of nursing experience in a correctional setting.nPrefers at least one (1) year of experience working in mental health.nPrefers at least one (1) year of experience problem solving in a nursing position.nPrefers at least one (1) year of experience working on an interdisciplinary team.nPrefers at least one (1) year of working experience in a leadership role.nnConditions of EmploymentnnRequires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.nRequires ability to pass a drug screen.
