Overview: As a
Surgical Technologist , your primary responsibilities will include:
- Patient Safety : Ensure patient safety during procedures by preventing injury from external sources and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Equipment & Supplies : Prepare and handle sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies required for surgeries.
- Support During Surgery : Assist the surgical team by providing instruments and supplies, maintaining aseptic technique, and advocating for patient safety.
- Patient Advocacy & Care : Protect patient dignity, privacy, and rights, while delivering culturally competent and ethical care.
- Collaboration & Communication : Work closely with the perioperative team and provide accurate hand-off reports to ensure continuous care.
- Post-Procedure Tasks : Clean and prepare the operating room for the next procedure.
- Compliance & Safety : Follow all protocols, including fire safety, radiation safety, and the Universal Protocol, to maintain a safe environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Monitor and maintain patient safety during procedures.
- Prepare surgical instruments and equipment.
- Maintain a sterile field and practice aseptic technique.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team and document patient care accurately.
- Participate in quality improvement projects and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all facility policies and safety regulations.
Must-Have Qualifications: - High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Graduate of a recognized Surgical Technologist program (preferred).
- Prior experience as a Surgical Technologist (preferred).
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (preferred).
- BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification within 90 days of hire.
Physical & Environmental Requirements: - Ability to work in a physically demanding, high-stress environment.
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, chemicals, and radiation.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods (up to 50 lbs).
- Must be able to handle and lift patients and equipment.
- Willingness to work irregular hours as required.
Schedule/Shift: - 4-day workweek (10-hour shifts).
- Rotating shifts: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, or 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM.
