You’ll ensure the architecture meets the functional and performance needs of various smart home products and is compatible with peripherals and cloud interfaces.nnYou will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our features meet the highest standards of user experience and bring amazing Smart Home products to the market. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment.nnKey Responsibilities:nnParticipate in Developing next generation software platform with first-class performance and reliabilitynnMaintain and optimize current software platform of embedded Linux and RTOSnnDaily maintenance of platform code, including design review, code review and releasennResponsible for identifying and resolving platform issues at all stages of the project lifecycle.nnArchitect complex embedded software systems, ensuring they meet performance, security, and reliability requirements.nnResponsible for core module (A/V transmission, control, networking, connectivity, storage, etc.) design, development and troubleshooting.nnDesign, develop, and optimize embedded software for microcontrollers, processors, and other embedded systems.nnConduct performance analysis and optimize system performance, memory usage, and power consumption.nnWrite, debug, and test software for embedded systems using C/C++ and other relevant programming languages.nnUse cross-compiling methods to integrate third-party functionalities.nnTroubleshoot and resolve complex issues in embedded systems, working closely with hardware and firmware teams to debug and optimize system performance.nnConduct unit testing, integration testing, and system validation for embedded systems.nnEnsure that software is safe, reliable, and meets all performance standards, including security protocols to protect against potential vulnerabilities.nnMaintain and enhance existing embedded software systems.nnProvide technical documentation, including design specifications, software architecture, and user manuals.nnCollaborate with external vendors and third-party partners to efficiently integrate hardware and software components.nnCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and design effective solutions.nnStay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies in embedded systems and apply them to continuously improve product features and performance.nnWork with quality assurance teams to ensure the robustness and reliability of embedded systems.nnMentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and sharing best practices through code reviews and team collaboration.nnRequirementsnnRequired Qualifications:nnBachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.nn5+ years of professional software development experiencennProficiency in embedded software programming using C/C++, with a strong understanding of coding best practices.nnStrong technical background in embedded Linux and RTOS, with a deep understanding of software architecture and design principles.nnStrong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think strategically and act tactically.nnExperience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software solutions in productionnnExperience with power and performance optimization techniques for embedded devices.nnStrong understanding of microcontrollers, processors, and peripheral interfaces (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO).nnExperience with network and security protocols in embedded systems (e.g., HTTP, MQTT, TLS).nnExperience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration tools.nnProven track record of bringing consumer electronics products from design to marketnnStrong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise communication of technical concepts and ideasnnAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.nnPreferred Qualifications:nnExperience with development of consumer electronics products such as IPC, Doorbell, Hub and Smart Home devices.nnExperience in the bottom layers of the storage software stack (Filesystem, Block Device, SSD)nnExperience in resolving performance bottlenecks in resource (CPU, Memory) constrained Platforms and devices.nnProven experience, knowledge and skills on platform architect.nnContribute proposals to standards organizations or participate in the development of standards agreementsnnExperience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering teamnnBenefitsnnSalary range: $140,000 - $200,000nnFree snacks and drinks, and provided lunch on FridaysnnFully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance (partial coverage for dependents)nnContributions to 401k fundsnnBi-annual reviews, and annual pay increasesnnHealth and wellness benefits, including free gym membershipnnQuarterly team-building eventsnnAt TP-Link Systems Inc., we are continually searching for ambitious individuals who are passionate about their work.
