We are working on an exciting opportunity with the Defense Innovation Unit to build a novel low SWaP form factor that leads to a large JADC2 market with embedded machine learning and advanced processing.nnThe responsibilities for this position include processor SW development in the following areas: assembly, instruction set implementations, low level 'C', and compiler debug and development. You will be involved in processor architecture and design activities that support custom hardware development and integration activities. In this role, you will join a dynamic team that is singularly focused on providing world class solutions to our customers in an exciting, collaborative, and inclusive atmosphere.nnAs a software leader you will architect, design, build, and enhance highly available and scalable system software used by customers worldwide. You will direct major deliverables of projects through all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit testing. In all cases, you will determine and recommend the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines and other resource constraints.nnExperience with verilog in a FPGA or chip RTL environment is a strong plus.nnParticipate in the full software development lifecycle, working within broadly defined parameters on large, complex embedded systems.nnOwn the delivery of an entire piece of a system or application, and serve as a technical lead on medium to large, complex embedded software projects.nnBreak down large tasks into smaller tasks that can be executed by the rest of the development team.nnWork closely with other engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development.nnBuild software solutions where the solution is not always well defined but always considers the customer first.nnMentor other engineers in the art of building complex, web scale systems.nnResolve roadblocks for the development team, working collaboratively with the Product Owner, technical leadership, and other engineers.nnPlan and estimate development tasks and work to improve performance metrics.nnOperate as a software leader and as a senior level individual contributor.nnQualificationsnnRequired Qualifications:nnUS Citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance.nnBachelor's Degree and 14 years of experience; Master's and 12 years of experience.nnHands-on expertise with microelectronics and embedded programming in ‘C’ and/or assembly.nnDesired experience in higher level languages such as Java, C/C++ and object oriented programming a plus.nnExperience delivering an entire piece of a system or application.nnExperience with a version control system (e.g., Git, RCS, Clearcase, SVN).nnProficiency with multiple real-time operating systems (LynxOs, VxWorks, Greenhills, etc.).nnDesired Qualifications:nnExperience serving as a technical lead.nnDeep understanding of software design patterns.nnWorking knowledge of Agile Development and continuous integration and continuous delivery methodologies and tools.nnExperience with an issue/problem tracking system (e.g., Jira, GitLab, GitHub, Rally, Azure Boards, Planview).nnStrong knowledge of low level Linux (static & dynamically loaded) driver development.nnStrong knowledge of embedded software development using ‘C’ to modify Linux OS and custom Linux software threads.nnSAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.nnCovid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters.
