Job Description

Pay rate - $34.19nnThe electrical journey-level position requires a well-rounded, highly trained, and experienced individual. With abilities usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship program and on-the-job experience. General duties include: installs, services, and repairs of electrical equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. Replaces defective circuit breakers, switches, fuses, and other electrical wiring devices. Applies knowledge of electrical theory in analyzing and troubleshooting of electrical systems or equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, motors, motor controllers, circuit breakers, and conduit systems. Follows blueprints, drawings, or other relevant engineering specifications. Uses a variety of electrician's hand tools and testing and measurement instruments. Installs conduit using threading, cutting and bending equipment and tools. May perform other related duties as assigned.nnStrongly Preferred - AMMO-29 Certification (Electrical Explosive Safety for Naval Facilities)nnMinimum QualificationsnnHigh School graduate or equivalentnnMust possess at least one of the following:nnCertification from an accredited technical school's Electrical Maintenance level 2 programnnCompletion of an approved/certified apprenticeship program with a minimum of (3) years working in the industrial electrical fieldnnMinimum of two (2) years verfiable experience as journey-level Electrician in the field of commercial and industrial plant electrical maintenance working with systems of 600 VAC and below.nnMust have proven ability to read and comprehend electrical blueprints and wiring schematics.nnMust have knowledge of and be able to use electrical testing instrumentsnnMust have a proven troubleshooting ability, using a systematic approach and the repair of AC and DC electrical control systems including motors, motor controls, transformers, switchgear, electrical panels, and other associated equipment.nnMust have strong background in control wiring and troubleshooting and basic knowledge High school graduate or equivalent.nnAbility to read and interpret NEC Table 310.16 reproduces in the Ugly's manual wire size and conduit fill requirements and the ability to install as necessary.nnAbility to read and interpret electrical designs, prepare and report on electrical project status and complete as-builts.nnMust be able to work at heights with mechanical lifting devices (i.e man lifts) up to 300 feet.nnMust be capable of obtaining license to operate mechanical lifiting devices up to and including 132 feet.nnMust be CPR certifiednnMust have and wear at all times, hard toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standardsnnMust possess a valid state driver's license.nnMust possess the standard tools of the trade.nnSuccessful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.nnPhysical RequirementsnnWalking: FrequentnnStanding: FrequentnnClimbing: Working up to 300 feetnnStooping/Bending: FrequentnnLifting: Up to 50 lbs.nnPersonal Protective Equipment will be required.
