Job SummaryWe are seeking a leader to champion media sciences - the combination of data analytics and media strategy across eRetailers, marketplaces and retail media. The ever-changing eCommerce landscape is evolving at a pace that demands that you must possess adaptability, quick-thinking, and a thirst for rapid-fire learning. Night Market is at the forefront of defining what (and how) our clients need to succeed and innovate across all facets of online commerce, and this individual will be instrumental in supporting that mission.
The Director, eCommerce Media Sciences will report into the VP eCommerce Products & Services and will lead the day-to-day media sciences on clients as well as play an active role in new business. This individual will work closely with cross-functional Horizon Media and Night Market teams and should be comfortable collaborating and communicating effectively while simultaneously delivering best-in-class work in media strategy, data analytics and attribution.
What You'll DoDigital Media Strategy - 40%- Craft eCommerce media strategy and role of media in the path to purchase. Create the high-level ecommerce media sciences plans as well as retail media plans and attribution models.
- Leverage Horizon Media's suite of planning, evaluation and buying tools for application/analysis into competitive landscape, target digital consumption support, plan development and reporting
- Monitor trends, tools, opportunities and applications within digital environments, and appropriately apply that knowledge to campaign strategy and client goals
- Create media specific documents such as media plans, objectives and strategies decks, and other related functions
- Lead brainstorms to kick off plan and consideration set development with the intention of bringing great ideas to life
- Oversee and support the Media Sciences Specialist who will be negotiating, buying, optimizing, reporting and operationalizing the media buys.
Data Intelligence - 40% - Help create data informed intellectual property of both media and shopping metrics across each of the platforms that we are advertising on so that we have a proprietary understanding of the Omni-Commerce path to purchase.
- Build the Night Market approach and infrastructure for analytics on existing clients as well as provide measurement guidance on all new business pitches.
- Build cross-channel analytics and insights offerings.
- Build client-specific solutions that inform campaign performance and drive institutional knowledge.
- Develop clear and concise dashboarding that will deliver information in an intelligent and digestible manner.
- Develop KPIs and reporting methodologies / approaches that match back to campaign and brand goals and to communicate that based on client needs.
- Must be able to peel through the layers of reported data, disregarding the unnecessary, and deliver analysis and insight in a constructive and concise manner both internal and external client constituents.
- Must be able to manage client expectations successfully throughout multiple engagement
Reporting & Analysis - 20%- Monitor and report on media campaigns on an ongoing basis, providing an active voice communicating optimization opportunities and challenges to internal teams, media partners and the client
- Parse through partner ad verification and ad server data to provide critical thinking and analysis, as well as draw conclusions and discover actionable implications
- Determining set-up, including testing methodologies, reporting requirements, and optimization requirements, for ensuring full impact and efficiency of each initiative
- Responsible for providing data for dashboards/Excel trackers, as needed by account, ensuring accuracy and validity of data shown
- Use learnings drawn from data to draw thoughtful, data-based conclusions that illustrates the 'why' behind performance, and maps back to digital strategy
Who You AreYou will go toe to toe with the client's analytics & retail media teams, as well as senior leadership potentially including the CMO. You will need to have a thorough understanding of digital and eCommerce metrics and media strategies, as well as a track record of successfully building analytic approaches and retail media plans across a broad mix of clients. A strong business acumen and superior client service skills are a must.
Key Behavioral Competencies:
- Strong analytical skills are required, including the ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and summarize actionable recommendations and their forecasted outcomes/implications.
- Thought leadership on all aspects of eCommerce and digital media strategy and media measurement
Preferred Skills & Experience- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to convey and package technical findings in layman's terms
- Proven track record identifying on-going opportunities to productize revenue generating analytic and media solutions and sell into internal and external clients
- Expert in negotiating and constructing digital media plans, with understanding of planning, buying and activation
- Expert in developing strategic media recommendations and stewarding digital media account projects, acting as a client contact
- Expert in eRetailer (Walmart, Target, Kroger), marketplaces (Amazon, Instacart) and retailer media (Criteo, Ibotta)
- Strong knowledge of DoubleClick/DART, MediaMind, Omniture and Google Analytics
- Working knowledge of eCommerce measurement approaches as well as understanding of role of multi-touch attribution in media evaluation
- Experience building customized multi-channel attribution models either internally built or leveraging leading platforms (VisualIQ, Adometry, Convertro, C3)
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Relationships with qualitative digital metric companies preferred (Vizu, Dynamic Logic, ComScore, Dimestore, Symphony IRI)
- 8+ years relevant experience

Salary Range$150,000.00 - $175,000.00
A successful applicant's actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure/certifications, and equity.
