The Role

We are seeking a Manager, Data Architecture & Engineering with a strong background in designing and delivering scalable data solutions for diverse clients. The ideal candidate is a leader who combines hands-on technical expertise in data engineering with a strategic mindset to drive innovative solutions aligned with business objectives. This role involves mentoring team members, managing projects, and fostering client relationships to ensure impactful results.

Work You'll Do
  • Oversee the design and delivery of scalable data architecture and engineering solutions leveraging Snowflake and AWS cloud platforms
  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers and architects, aligning client goals with AArete's strategic vision
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define and implement best practices in data engineering and architecture
  • Implement advanced data solutions leveraging Snowflake and AWS cloud platforms
  • Guide the development of complex ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Airflow and other tools
  • Provide technical oversight and troubleshooting for Python-based data transformation and analysis projects
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring high-quality outcomes
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver client solutions effectively
  • Use Jira for advanced task management, sprint planning, and progress tracking
  • Partner with clients to understand their business needs and translate them into technical solutions
  • Serve as a key point of contact for escalations and ensure client satisfaction
  • Mentor and coach consultants and engineers to build technical and professional skills
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture
  • Drive DevOps and DataOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Git, BitBucket, Pulumi, Liquibase)
  • Ensure documentation of technical processes and knowledge sharing through Confluence
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to integrate new approaches into AArete's solutions
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of new tools and methodologies to enhance data architecture and engineering capabilities


Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering or architecture roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Healthcare industry experience, including in-depth knowledge of payer industry claims data
  • Expert knowledge of Snowflake and data modeling concepts
  • Proficiency in Python, with experience in designing scalable scripts for data transformation
  • Strong experience with ETL/ELT tools
  • Solid understanding of AWS infrastructure and DevOps practices
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills to develop technical talent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Strong client relationship management skills
  • Direct client interaction, including possible travel to client location
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship

Preferred Requirements
  • Based in Chicago, IL and flexible to work from our Chicago office as needed
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Advanced DevOps and DataOps experience, including Pulumi and Terraform
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP)
  • Experience implementing enterprise-level data governance frameworks
  • Knowledge of additional visualization tools or platforms beyond Power BI
  • Advanced certifications in Snowflake, AWS, or data engineering
