BASIC SUMMARY:

The Business Development Senior Manager is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, providing direction to the development of proposals and aligning the internal team to assist in the closure of new opportunities, and maintaining relationships with existing clients as required. Additionally, the Senior Manager is responsible for providing leadership to junior Business Development Associates and Lead Generators as assigned.

Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities through cold calling, referrals, and networking in order to meet sales targets.
  • Present the company and demonstrate technologies to clients during meetings.
  • Manage and oversee the development of proposals and contracts including scope of work and budgets.
  • Coordinate and attend bid defense meetings as required.
  • Facilitate timely close of all contracts.
  • Negotiate the financial and contractual aspects of proposals and contracts with clients.
  • Oversee proposal, contract and change order process.
  • Track all business opportunities.
  • Assist in the implementation of new business development tools.
  • Manage departmental staff including junior business development staff and lead generators.
  • Represent PharPoint at industry conferences as requested by management.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Life Science, Business Administration or related field
  • Experience:Minimum 5+ years of experience in business development, marketing, proposals, or finance, preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry and/or at a Contract Research Organization (CRO).
  • Certification/Licensure: None
  • Other:
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel
    • Experience with web-based CRM applications
    • Strong negotiation, management and leadership skills
    • Excellent inter-personal skills
    • Understanding of pharmaceutical/device regulatory approval process
    • Develop budgets and clearly written proposals
    • Ability to conduct meetings in a professional manner
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to multi-task and meet changing deadlines and demands
    • Establish and maintain effective business relationships with clients and co-workers
    • This position requires frequent and consistent domestic/international travel.
    • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English required.
    • Must have a valid driver's license with no limitations on driving availability.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and type at a computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to travel up to 60% including weekly overnight and occasional weekend travel (e.g. conferences)


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • General office working conditions, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
