About the role - Class B CDL Driver
We are thrilled to offer an opportunity for a Class B CDL Driver within our Orica USA Commercial team. In this position, you will operate Orica's bulk trucks (Mobile Mixing Units) and install blasting products for our customers at various local construction sites, mines, and quarries. You will also be responsible for maintaining the equipment and ensuring efficient operation.
This role involves a mix of driving (40%) and physical labor (60%) related to product installation. Key responsibilities include loading products, driving a Class B CDL truck, pulling hoses, and climbing on and off the truck in varying weather conditions. You will ensure the safe handling and delivery of bulk explosives while prioritizing environmental care and safety in all operations.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Home every night
- Local driving (2-4 hours)
- Early morning starts approx. 3 AM
- 10-12 hour workdays, with potential for overtime
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, including fluid checks
- Drive emulsion tanker trucks and box trucks
- Handle raw materials and dangerous goods according to regulations
- Minimize environmental impact through effective waste management
- Report unusual incidents and participate in safety meetings
What You Bring
- Minimum one year of experience in driving or material handling
- Knowledge of DOT regulations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and basic math skills for inventory management
- Adept at prioritizing tasks for maximum efficiency
Physical Requirements
- Able to load products, pull heavy hoses, and climb on/off the truck
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Lifting up to 60 pounds and carrying materials weighing 50 pounds or more
- Engage in frequent bending and squatting
Your Qualifications
- Possession of a Class B CDL (Class A preferred)
- Tanker, Hazmat, and Air Brakes endorsements preferred
- Support provided for obtaining required endorsements
- High School diploma or equivalent
