Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a direct-hire Weekend Shift Production Supervisor job in Hampton, VA, on behalf of our client, a manufacturer of highly technical products for aerospace and industrial applications. The Production Supervisor will report to the Manufacturing Manager and provide leadership in manufacturing excellence, ensuring customer satisfaction and continuous improvement of key performance metrics (quality, productivity, cycle time, delivery, and cash flow). This role involves supervising and coordinating team leaders and skilled workers in a union environment, aligning departmental activities with plant goals and business objectives. This position will work 6 am - 6 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday with occasional weekdays needed. A relocation package is available.

Responsibilities for the day shift Weekend Production Supervisor include:

  • Adhering to all company safety regulations, work rules, and departmental requirements.
  • Examining products during various processing stages for compliance with internal and external specifications.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, training, and mentoring to team members to achieve production goals, fostering team-building activities.
  • Conducting employee training and implementing incident prevention measures. Collaborating with Managers, EHS resources, and employees to ensure compliance through self-inspections and verification.
  • Explaining specifications and job orders to workers, assigning duties, and adjusting work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommending and implementing measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, using Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencies.
  • Analyzing and resolving work problems, assisting workers as needed, and motivating the team to meet work goals.
  • Managing materials requisitions, inspections, and coordination with other supervisors to align departmental activities.
  • Establishing project plans and coordinating continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Making recommendations for hiring, terminations, and promotions, resolving grievances, and addressing employee relations issues.
  • Completing performance evaluations and administering corrective actions as required.
  • Training and mentoring team leaders for individual development.
  • Maintaining departmental performance metrics.
  • Ensuring compliance with attendance policies, including regular attendance and occasional overtime.

Qualifications

  • A college degree in Business or Management-related fields is preferred for career advancement opportunities.
  • Experience in team building, leadership, cost reduction/analysis, and problem-solving is required.
  • Experience in Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies and their applications is required.
  • A minimum of four or more years of related manufacturing supervisory experience .
  • Must demonstrate leadership abilities and the ability to read and follow work instructions.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available. This position is subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), requiring U.S. person status (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
