Robert Half is partnering with a global media and entertainment enterprise in search of a creative, talented, and customer-focused Art Director to join their team in Seattle, WA or New York City. This role involves leading the design of high-concept, commercial book covers and interiors that resonate across various formats and marketplaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creating impactful designs while collaborating effectively with internal and external teams.
Location: Seattle, WA or New York City
Duration: 6-month contract
Hours: 40 hours/week
Pay Rate: $50-52/hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute imprint-level design strategies with a strong commercial focus.
- Strengthen imprint branding through the creation of style and usage guides.
- Commission, manage, and deliver cover and interior artwork, collaborating with external design vendors.
- Introduce creative processes to optimize and streamline workflows.
- Research and analyze trends in design to ensure innovative and inclusive visual solutions.
- Partner with internal teams—including design, editorial, production, and marketing—to create compelling cover designs that meet stakeholder expectations.
- Present creative concepts and cover designs for approval from partner teams and internal stakeholders.
- Use marketing and merchandising performance data to inform and refine designs.
- Work collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment to meet production schedules for both covers and interiors.

- Art Direction: Proven experience managing external design vendors and ensuring high-quality output.
- Adobe Creative Suite: Proficiency in key design tools, with strong capabilities in both print and digital formats.
- Project Management Tools & Adaptability: Experience with tools such as Asana, JIRA, or similar, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in design with a commercial focus.
- Online portfolio showcasing relevant work in design.
- Experience art directing motion designers, illustrators, writers, and other content creators.
- Ability to collaborate with technical partners to ensure seamless design implementation.
- Deep knowledge of typographic principles and brand design.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and project management tools (e.g., Asana, JIRA).
- Adaptability to evolving priorities and team needs
