Why does the job exist?
This position provides basic nursing care to meet the needs of patients.
How does it get done?
Incumbent will be responsible but not limited to, administration of all types of medications to include oral and injectable for the purpose of relieving anxiety, controlling behavior and treating physical problems, recording patient vitals, monitoring medical equipment and assisting patients with daily personal hygiene care. Incumbent will chart medications and document the patient's response to medication.

Experience in providing comprehensive nursing care;
Experience in administration of all types of medications;
Experience working in a hospital setting;
Experience working with treatment teams.
Minimum Qualification

Working Conditions
This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations requiring crisis intervention may be required. Effective 1/1/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. Unit is Forensic (FTU).
