Job Summary

The Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in enhancing and restoring patient health through the nursing process. This involves collaboration with Physicians and multidisciplinary teams to provide exceptional support for patients, families, and visitors. By assessing, planning, promoting, and evaluating high-quality patient care, the Registered Nurse contributes to the overall mission and vision of Mohawk Valley Health System.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Identify patient care needs while building rapport with patients and families, and maintaining an understanding of their care plans throughout their medical journey.
• Create a compassionate environment by offering emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends.
• Encourage patient independence by setting care goals and teaching patients and their families about their conditions, medications, and self-care practices while providing ample time for questions.
• Ensure quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards, monitoring health outcomes against care goals, and making adjustments to meet patient needs.
• Take accountability for nursing practices and determine appropriate delegation of tasks to optimize patient care.
• Maintain equipment functionality through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and managing inventories.
• Protect patients and staff by strictly following infection control protocols and medication administration guidelines.
• Contribute to a safe and clean work environment by adhering to established procedures and seeking assistance when needed.

Education/Experience Requirements

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited associate degree program.

Preferred:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a higher degree from an accredited program.
• One or more years of experience in a relevant nursing setting.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Required:

• Current New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse.

Preferred:

• Basic Life Support Certification.
