POSITION SUMMARY:
Your role as a CDL A Truck Driver will involve safely transporting products from our warehouse to various customers and ensuring timely delivery while meeting the company standards and customer specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transport products from the warehouse to customer locations safely and on time, following assigned routes.
- Unload products from the trailer, using a hand cart, and place them in designated storage areas according to specifications.
- Handle damaged goods and customer returns appropriately and transport them back to the Sygma warehouse.
- Complete all required paperwork following company and governmental guidelines, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Adhere to food safety protocols maintaining proper temperatures and sanitary conditions.
- Utilize all assigned equipment safely, including hand carts and personal protective equipment.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through courteous service and effective communication.
- Report any issues related to routes, loading, or products to the management team.
- Work outside of regular hours as needed to meet customer demands and maintain a consistent attendance record.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED, or similar qualification, plus 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred. Completion of a driving school program may also meet this requirement.
CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License and be insurable to operate a vehicle.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Understanding of DOT regulations, Hazmat guidelines, and safe delivery practices.
Skills in driving over varied terrain and weather, communicating effectively with customers, and problem-solving.
Ability to operate a tractor-trailer unit safely at all times and handle various types of products, including hazardous materials.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. Frequent lifting, pushing, or moving products up to 50 pounds by hand, and pushing/pulling up to 350 pounds with a hand cart. May require climbing, bending, and twisting while handling goods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment may include exposure to extreme weather, humid conditions, and mechanical parts. Hours can include overnight, weekends, and holidays to meet customer needs.
