Our facility is accredited by Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.Job Summary: The RN has the responsibility to plan, direct organize, coordinate and implement all nursing care services for the pre or post-surgical patients in a manner suitable to accepted standards of care. He / she ensures the highest quality and safe delivery of patient care while maintaining compliance with professional nursing, JCAHO, and all Federal and State standards of care.Pre-operative - Manage patients’ admission processes to preoperative departmentAssess the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristbandEnsure that operative and informed consents are in orderDetermine the surgeon and procedure being carried outTake and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedureInitiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staffPACU - Assess patients’ condition after a surgery has been performedEnsure that all vitals are within normal rangeLog all findings in patients’ filesAnswer patients’ questions and ensure that they are kept comfortableMake sure that all relevant IVs are in checkDevelop individualized care plans based on each individual patient’s conditionEnsure that the all nursing activities are carried out in accordance to individual patient care planMonitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctorInitiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medicationsDetermine when patients are ready to be moved to their roomsPerform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergenciesRecord sedation levels and body temperatureManage blood and fluid transfusions and draw specimensEnsure that the post-operative space is clean and sanitizedChange bandages and dress surgical woundsWho We AreAt USPI, we create relationships that create better care. Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred.Must have current BLS, ALS and PALS.Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patientUnderstanding of aseptic techniques and their implementationAbility to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when neededMust be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians
