They offer tremendous growth opportunities, great benefits, and flexible work schedules.\n\n\nCT Technologist \n\n\n\tSalary Range: $48-$58 / hr \n\t3x12's, Fri, Sat, Sun, 7p-7a\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Position Summary\n\n Performs routine and some special procedure imaging. Prepares patient for procedures. Assists radiologists. Prepares, operates and cares for the equipment being used. Processes images /CDs when needed. Adheres to established radiology standards of care. Applies principles of radiation protection, when appropriate to minimize exposure to patient, self and others. Assumes responsibility for assigned area and duties. Adheres to hospital wide customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned, such as quality assurance. Performs diagnostic and some special procedure medical radiographic images utilizing CAT scan equipment. Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedures.\n\n Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:\n\n 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnaires\n\n 2. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/ or procedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completed exams for quality, completeness for the type of test ordered\n\n 3. Assists physicians during procedures as necessary\n\n 4. Performs equipment Quality assurance and calibrations as needed, lets Sr. staff know when supplies are low and need to be ordered.\n\n 5. Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department. Works on call, holiday, overtime and/or day, evening, and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department\n\n 6. Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med or Senior staff\n\n 7. Processes images, or prints CD’s if needed\n\n 8. Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/ films, documents\n\n information on patients’ in EPIC, hospital RIS and PACs digital x-ray system\n\n 9. Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to floors\n\n 10. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor\n\n 11. Will treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospitals behavioral standards.\n\n 12. Introduces self, uses 2 patient identifiers, and explains the exam to the patient and/or family member.\n\n 13. Knowledgeable and skillful in providing care and meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of different patient\n\n populations including neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults, and geriatric groups\n\n 14. Performs New York State and ACR quality assurance tasks and calibrations\n\n 15. Performs other related duties as required, attends staff meetings and in-services\n\n 16. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospital\n\n 17. On standby/ call for emergency department coverage\n\n 18. Performs all other related duties as assigned\n\n 19. Aware of department specific protocols and policies; such as Stroke Program / Code Gray, IV & Oral contrast, etc.\n\n Education & Experience Requirements\n\n · The CAT Scan Technologist must be a graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school\n\n or hospital-based program. NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required. ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph\n\n · (R) and or (CT) certified and / or NMTCB registered (CNMT), and documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection.\n\n · Passing advanced CT examination /certification within 1 year from date of hire.\n\n · Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies.\n\n\n\tCurrent standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on year of birth.\n\n\n · DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-month orientation.\n\n · BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed with 90 days of hire.\n\n · Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology\n\n\n\t(ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before end of probationary period.\n\n\n Core Competencies\n\n · Teamwork,\n\n · adaptability,\n\n · communication skills,\n\n · problem-solving skills,\n\n · planning and organizing,\n\n · attention to detail,\n\n · judgment and\n\n · decisions making skills,\n\n · stress tolerance.\n\n Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment\n\n · Must be able to remain in stationary position 50% of the time\n\n · The person in this position needs to occasionally move about the department to access patients and paperwork.\n\n · Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery\n\n · The person in this position frequently communicates with patients who have questions about their test and must be\n\n able to exchange accurate information in these situations.\n\n · Frequently move and position patients for exams\n\n · May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks.
