Job Summary:
The CT Technologist is responsible for obtaining high-quality radiographs of patients using both stationary and portable equipment within an acceptable timeframe. The role requires adherence to radiation safety guidelines, safe operation of radiographic equipment, and excellent patient care. The technologist will assist with all necessary procedures, ensure proper documentation, and maintain a clean and organized environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain high-quality radiographs for patients within the department and with portable equipment in a timely manner.
  • Comply with radiation safety guidelines to protect both patients and self, using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Operate radiographic equipment safely and competently to produce clear and accurate images.
  • Perform necessary computer operations, including using Meditech and PACS. Ensure proper charges are entered, and verify referring physician’s orders.
  • Provide professional and courteous patient care during the examination process.
  • Prepare examination rooms for radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas and dressing rooms.
  • Monitor inventory levels of supplies during room rotations and ensure adequate stock.
  • Assist radiologists with the administration of medications, contrast agents, and other patient care as needed.
  • Review each exam for technical accuracy, including proper image markers, anatomical positioning, and annotation.
  • Complete verification of images in PACS and assist the Diagnostic Supervisor with PACS clean-up tasks (e.g., cleaning CR plates, erasing cassettes, closing exams).
  • Stay current with personal educational requirements and continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient and employee information in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Education:
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
Licensure/Certification:
  • Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
  • Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification.
