Leidos Dig Mod Health IT division is looking for a Senior Network Architect Specialist with deep expertise in Cisco switching, routing, and traffic engineering to support a large enterprise network services opportunity
This role leads a team of network architects to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of the enterprise network infrastructure. Responsibilities include overseeing the operation and maintenance of network infrastructure services such as firewall management, load balancing, NTP, DHCP, and DNS services. The supported networks consist of an enterprise backbone, data center networks, campus-wide wireless systems, and extensive facility networks. You will also manage small to large-scale projects while resolving incident tickets efficiently.
Key aspects of this position include generating contract deliverable reports, ensuring compliance with performance standards, engaging in service level agreement (SLA) management, and collaborating with architecture and security teams to support network initiatives. The role involves providing Tier 3 support for incident response and liaising with vendors and service providers. Furthermore, you'll support ongoing maintenance while designing and deploying innovative and secure network solutions.
This position will initially require 100% onsite presence at the Health Agency in Montgomery County, MD, with potential for partial remote work in the future.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated on-site support to the health agency.
- Lead network operations and project team, offering technical guidance and monitoring team performance.
- Ensure continuous support to restore services within established incident response SLAs.
- Enhance customer visibility into network operations through informative dashboards and reporting.
- Collaborate with architecture and security teams on network initiatives and operational requirements.
- Prioritize monitoring and maintenance of network systems including LANs, WANs, wireless, and more.
- Oversee the operation and optimization of standard monitoring tools used by the agency.
- Design and develop network architectures supporting both special and existing projects.
- Apply Cisco switching and routing expertise to configure over 1000 network devices.
- Assess potential impacts of new network solutions, including Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) networks.
- Measure and monitor network performance, usage, and capacity.
- Design and implement firewall and network monitoring solutions for security compliance.
- Provide strategic direction for future Network Services enhancements and project implementations.
- Engage actively with customers and stakeholders to define project requirements and expected outcomes.
- Document and configure baseline configurations of all network assets according to DoD engineering standards.
- Stay current on emerging tools, techniques, and technologies including cloud services.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, with 12-15 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 10-13 years of experience.
- Possession of one of the Cisco CCIE certifications (written and practical), with expertise in Routing & Switching, Service Provider, Data Center, or Wireless.
- Extensive experience designing and architecting routed and switched networks.
- Familiarity with NIST-800 Risk Management Framework and effective implementation of network services within SLAs.
- Ten years of experience architecting, designing, and operating large-scale enterprise networks.
- Five years of configuring Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Experience implementing complex enterprise VLAN architectures and data center networks.
- Competence in configuring network monitoring and measurement tools, coupled with scripting and automation experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all management levels.
- Previous experience in government IT infrastructure projects with 24x7 mission support.
- Knowledge in multiple technical areas, including VPN, network services, IPAM, VoIP, and cloud networking.
Desired Skills:
- Strongly preferred CCIE, CCNP, or CISSP certifications.
- Expertise in Data Center Cloud, WAN Facilities, and Wireless networking.
- Experience with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) solutions.
- Knowledge of dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) systems.
- In-depth understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 frameworks and protocols.
- Experience with ScienceLogic 1, F5 load balancers, and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Proficiency in BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow for IT service management.
- Cloud networking experience and ITIL 4 Foundation certification are preferred.

Pay Range: $112,450.00 - $203,275.00
