Summary:
The Data Engineer has intermediate knowledge about data management throughout the entire data lifecycle, from ingesting and formatting, to building data models and generating reports.
Responsibilities:
* Each employee is required to support the mission of the Chickasaw Nation upon becoming a member of the Chickasaw Nation team. Our mission is to better the lives of the Chickasaw people in all that we do
* Develop and maintain scripts and processes that ETL financial data into various database systems using common programming languages and enterprise data processing software
* Develop and manage database structures while optimizing queries on multiple database systems
* Create and maintain intermediate to complex data models and data packages that support accurate and easy to use report writing
* Develop and maintain a wide range of useful reports for multiple finance departments
* Apply appropriate security to all aspects of the data-lifecycle while retaining ease of use and access to deliverables for the end user
* Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new processes, and other post-implementation support
* Conduct user acceptance testing, perform ongoing monitoring and refinement of reports and processes, work with business stakeholders to ensure the solution is adopted and fully leveraged for decision making
* Test and document all new or modified scripts, processes, models, reports
* Design and deliver end-user training and training materials; provide technical support as necessary
* Translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to implement the required reports, data structures, and models, created from potentially multiple data sources
* Provide training and assistance to users for generation of ad-hoc reports
* Work as part of a business-wide analytics team which supports all reporting and data needs
* Train and support Cognos end users (information consumers and power-users) on basic use and consumption of department deliverables
