The MRI Technologist II provides outstanding customer service to patients, providers and clinical teams with the primary task of operating imaging equipment to acquire quality diagnostic images as ordered by the physician. In addition to adhering to the Mission and Vision Statement of Tampa General Hospital Crystal River, the following job duties are performed:
- Presents a professional, welcoming, supportive, and calm demeanor during all aspects of interactions with customers following AIDET principles.
- Communicates patient needs and responses through appropriate verbal and written correspondence.
- Explains procedures to patients to reduce their anxiety and obtain patient cooperation.
- Assists with patient / family education and keeps patient and families abreast of patient's progress.
- Responsible for proper operation of imaging and specialty equipment, keeps abreast of uses of medical devices
- Responsible for acquiring and processing optimum images during exams for diagnostic interpretation.
- Assumes responsibility and provides quality care for all procedures / exams performed
- Sets up exam rooms to include equipment, supplies and patient preparation
- Demonstrates an adequate knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Acts as a resource for students and new staff, may serve as a preceptor for new staff and students
- Responsible for completing all aspects of patient care documentation following the established charting procedure.
- Ensures MRI safe principles are followed per facility policies and procedures.
- Performs efficiently in emergency situations.
- Communicates and works well with staff and promotes team approach.
- Performs various tasks as assigned related to imaging department.
Qualifications - Graduate of an accredited school for Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
- Minimum two years of experience performing MRI, preferably in hospital setting
- Current license for General Radiographer with the State of Florida
- Current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) for Radiography (R) and Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) is required through the American Red Cross (ARC) or the American Heart Association (AHA).
