Job Description
- This position is to help out the Food Emergency Response Network (FERN).
- This position will be performing method development, optimization, and validation for food matrices. This position will be assisting with a FDA method validation on a metals method on a Thermo iCAP ICP-OES with Qtegra software.
- This position will be optimizing and completing a FDA method validation for mycotoxins on a Thermo QExactive LC-HRAMS with Tracefinder software.
- The validation process will include performing analysis on the instrumentation, putting together data packets, peer reviewing, entering data into an Excel spreadsheet and performing various calculations, writing a validation report, and writing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the methods.
- Other tasks include preparing reagents and standards, cleaning vessels for the microwave digestor, cleaning glassware, disposing of chemicals, ordering supplies, and helping with inventory.

Good Documentation Practices, Scientific writing, Pipetting, Troubleshooting
Experience Required
Working as chemist for 4+ years in a related field. Performing analysis on analytical instrumentation (ICP-OES, ICP-MS, LC-MSMS, or LC-HRAMS).
Experience Preferred
Performing method development and validation on analytical instrumentation. Using Thermo iCAP Pro ICP-OES with Qtegra software and/or Thermo QExactive LC-HRAMS with Tracefinder software.
Education Required
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Toxicology, or another science related field.
