Senior Solar Engineer (PV and BESS)

Location: Lakewood, Colorado

Our client is seeking a highly skilled engineer to take the lead on cutting-edge utility-scale PV Solar (20MW+) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the lead design engineer for utility-scale PV Solar projects (20MW and larger).
• Oversee the development of electrical design packages for large-scale BESS projects.
• Perform QA/QC for medium-voltage collection system designs and mentor junior engineers.
• Apply a strong understanding of inverter-based technologies commonly used in these projects.
• Develop collection system designs, including:
• Single-line diagrams
• System layouts
• Communication diagrams
• Power cable sizing and schedules
• Wiring diagrams
• Compliance with fire, electrical, and building codes
• Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and actively participate in project planning meetings

Desired Knowledge & Experience:

• Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Expertise with electrical equipment, including:
• Medium and low voltage switchgear
• Transformers, panel boards, breakers, and protective relays
• Inverters, UPS systems, DC combiner boxes, battery systems, and disconnect switches
• Medium and low voltage cables
• Proficiency in:
• AC/DC cable sizing and ampacity studies
• Short circuit and reactive capability analysis (ETAP or SKM)
• Arc flash analysis (ETAP or SKM)
• AC and DC voltage drop calculations
