Position Overview:


Trunk Wine Reserve, a division of Trunk Space Storage, is seeking a knowledgeable and reliable part-time Director of Development to join our team in the Miami, FL area . In this role, you will be responsible for promoting and growing wine storage occupancy for the facility by leading the charge to acquire and retain customers. This role involves creating and implementing strategies to reach new and existing customers, building awareness, and driving revenue. The Director of Development will be part of an exciting and existing team that includes Property Manager(s) who will oversee to facility’s operation and security, a District Manager who oversees the Property Manager and is accountable for the facility, and the CEO/CMO of Trunk Space Storage / Trunk Wine Reserve. This role will report to and regularly work with the CEO / CMO. We are open to exploring flexible structures for this role – e.g., commission based, project-based contractor, direct part-time employee of Trunk Wine Reserve. You will also be expected to help shape this role using your experience in wine to accomplish the occupancy objective.


Acquire new clients:

o  Identify and execute approaches to find new clients (attending local area wine events, hosting wine events, networking with local wine communities and influencers).

o  Market our product by conducting and/or attending wine events (between 1 per week and 1 per month pending our occupancy), provide input into our web and branding presence.

o  Being available at the store by appointment only (availability to be there within 24 hours Mon-Fri except when on vacation) and potentially offering regular office hours.

o  Close wine storage sales with new clients and sign them up in our system.

o  Provide input into our marketing and branding approach and strategy.


Service and retain existing clients:

o  Build the “wine community” – this could include among other things – (a) hosting wine events/tasting among our tenants (alongside potentially new clients), (b) notifying clients of interesting wine events in the area (c) and/or sending out a monthly email where customers can offer to share their wines with each other should they choose and offer some tips/tricks on getting onto the best wine distribution lists.

o  Assist customers with inquiries regarding wine storage receiving options, storage options, delivery, and retrieval of their collections. This role potentially may also be responsible for placing received wine shipments in the unit of a customer OR inventorying the wine for the customer using a non-proprietary app.

o  Fully maintain the customer relationships and help them where needed to arrange for various services in connection with wine storage.


Skills and Qualifications:

·        Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with wine collectors, customers, partners, and the media.

·        Wine and Local Knowledge: Strong understanding of the wine industry, including trends, production, and wine tasting. Established relationships OR strong skills in relationship building to network with wine collectors, influencers, restaurants where needed. Some level of wine industry certification preferred.

·        Passion for Wine: A genuine interest and knowledge of wine, as well as the ability to educate customers about wine varieties and pairings.

·        Experience: Preferably at least 2-5 years of experience in sales or business development preferably within the food, beverage, or wine industry.

Work Environment:

·        Location: Predominantly out of office with occasional visits to office for pre-scheduled appointments with customers or to execute storage needs (e.g., inventorying) at flexible times that work with your schedule.

·        Hours: Part-time (estimated at 10-20 hours per week), with occasional evenings and weekends for events or tastings.


Compensation:

  • ·        Compensation is flexible pending structure. We do expect this role to likely include commissions, bonuses, or variable pay that is in some way tied to performance of acquiring and retaining customers.
