Job Description
n
Operates Computed Tomography (CT) equipment, prepares patients for examination, and ensures that proper information has been obtained for the physician to make a diagnosis. Maintains required documentation.

Job Responsibility
n
Prepares patients for examination and explains procedures and sets up equipment to administer the proper procedure in a timely fashion.
n
Ensures required consent forms have been obtained.
n
Prepares patient for exam by placing and positioning patient on exam table within the gantry.
n
Utilizes special devices (i.e. bromide shield) to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas (i.e. breast, thyroid, etc.).
n
Adjusts and ensures proper slice thickness and couch increment.
n
In collaboration with Radiologist, extends parameters, if needed, within established imaging protocols.
n
Adjusts CT equipment to capture appropriate field of view and transmits cases to Radiologist through use of Tele-Radiology system.
n
Performs CT procedures to include: abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies, etc.
n
May administer intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order and performs venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination.
n
Explains in layman's terms the administration of IV contrast, and completes the IV Contrast Information Sheet with information provided by the patient, family member or health care proxy.
n
Utilizes appropriate flush technique for an existing IV line, if needed and utilizes power injector to administer IV contrast, as well as recognizes and assists in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations.

Job Qualification
n
Vocational or Technical school Diploma, required.
n
New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required,
n
Current ARRT Radiology registration, required,
n
plus specialized certifications as needed.
n
1-3 years of technical experience, required.

The salary range for this position is $56.05-$65.55/hour
