  • Assessing and improving functional hand use and visual attention.
  • Ensuring student independence and safety during feeding activities.
  • Facilitating a safe school environment by minimizing injury risks.
  • Supporting coordination of eye-hand movements for small muscle tasks.
  • Assessing and modifying the environment to improve mobility and access.
  • Introducing adapted equipment to enhance the functional use of extremities.
  • Creating engaging sensorimotor activities for improved learning capabilities.
  • Teaching staff about effective body mechanics and handling techniques.
  • Providing access to assistive technology to promote student independence.

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program, along with passing the National Board Certification for Occupational Therapy and a current Illinois license.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in occupational therapy within educational settings is preferred.

    • Strong communication skills for working with families, teachers, and community agencies.
    • Commitment to documenting services and tracking student progress effectively.
    • Ethical practice in line with the American Occupational Therapy Association standards.
    • Leadership skills to supervise occupational therapy assistants as needed.

If you are passionate about empowering students and want to make a difference in their lives, we invite you to apply. We look forward to welcoming a new member to our team!
