Our Haverhill campus offers all private rooms, and our Methuen campus offers a new state-of-the-art catheterization suite and Joint Center of Excellence, named as a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction+ Center for Knee and Hip Replacement.nnPosition Summary:nnThe Physical Therapist administers a variety of therapeutic procedures and agents utilized in the short- and long-term rehabilitation of in and outpatients (orthopedic, neurological, pulmonary, cardiac, medical and surgical) within the guidelines set forth in physician orders).nnResponsibilities:nnPatient Care:nnHas achieved/maintained specialty certification.nnSeeks out educational opportunities to expand patient care knowledge base.nnReceives positive letters/comments from patients, families or staff regarding interactions or treatment techniques.nnNotes diagnosis of patient and takes all precautions for observing indications and contraindications.nnEvaluates patient’s emotional and physical condition.nnExplains treatment to patient/family/others.nnFormulates measurable goals and individualized treatment plan.nnIntegrates evaluation findings into treatment plan; observes and follows general guidelines and contraindications for physical therapy.nnUtilizes age-appropriate therapeutic techniques for assigned caseload.nnMonitors effectiveness of treatment and adjusts treatment plan accordingly.nnInitiates conversation/interaction with physicians and other health care providers for optimal provision of servicesnnDocumentation:nnMaintains records pertinent to patient evaluations.nnMaintains timely and complete documentation of all aspects of patient care.nnDocumentation reflects patient response to treatment.nnProgress towards goals is reflected at least weekly.nnFlow sheet documentation reflects quality of patient performance.nnAppropriately utilizes departmental and hospital approved forms.nnMaintains current physician orders.nnEvaluation:nnCorrectly selects appropriate database, obtains, and interprets written referral and patient information gained from review of the medical record and verbally from the patient.nnSelects, performs, documents appropriate tests corresponding to diagnosis and functional limitations.nnReports to and recommends changes to the physician as needed.nnActs as a Resource:nnActs as a resource to entry level staff regarding complex cases and new/advanced techniques.nnProvides input into the supervision of students.nnProvides direct supervision of students.nnDemonstrates the ability to teach techniques or skills in a clear, concise manner.nnIn-services staff upon return from conferences or seminars.nnInitiates ways to assist or support other staff members with department related tasks.nnInteracts with peers in a kind and professional manner.nnConsistently demonstrates an approachable style of interaction.nnWhen requested, assists other staff members with department related tasks.nnSupports hospital and system-wide patient quality and safety practices as identified by National Quality Forum, JCAHO and system-wide Quality and Safety Plan.nnDemonstrates knowledge of and follows JCAHO Patient Safety Goals.nnQualifications:nnEducation: Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy requirednnExperience: 0-3 years’ experience preferred. New Graduates considered.nnLicensure/ Certification: Current PT License from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
