CP Unlimited also provides nursing, behavioral, dietary and Article 16 services including counseling, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Well- coordinated care, overall wellness, and building personalized relationships with the people that reside and participate in our programs are our high priorities.nnCurrently CP Unlimited is seeking a full time Physical Therapist in our Bronx Clinic and Residential Community Program to plan and implement physical therapy treatment programs to maintain and/or restore function secondary to acute or chronic disability.nnSpecific Position Duties Include:nnReviews doctor referrals and medical records to determine PT treatment Refers to specialty clinics as needed (adaptive equipment, shoe and splint). Maintain active/up to date MD prescriptions as outlined by NYS Department of Health (DOH) and Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) depending upon work assignment.nnEvaluates and assesses the needs and level of functioning in the areas of: sensorimotor, gross & fine motor skills, musculoskeletal status, CNS status, ambulation and adaptive equipment needs (e.g. walker, canes, AFO’s).nnDevises treatment plans based on the assessment; administers treatment involving the application of modalities: hydrotherapy, hot packs, cold packs, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation; instructs, motivates, and assists persons receiving services in various exercise programs utilizing weights, exercise machines, mat activities, assistive devices, orthoses, and prostheses.nnProvides training as needed.nnParticipates and attends care plan/team meetings as needed for persons receiving PT services.nnSupervises PTAs & therapists on limited permits, and performs oversight in the Healthcare Center, day programs and residential settings.nnTo qualify for the Physical Therapist Position you must possess the following:nnGraduate of an accredited physical therapy school with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher.nnNYS Physical Therapy License.nnKnowledge in PT evaluation and treatment; ability to supervise direct assistants and aides. Understand the principles of physical agent modalities employed in PT.nnKnowledge in the use of mobility devices and therapeutic exercises.nnMust have good written-verbal communication skills.nnProficient with Microsoft Office.nnAble to travel as assigned to oversee PTAs in the Healthcare Centers, day programs or residential sites.nnCP Unlimited values and supports its employees by offering them a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance and generous time off packages.
