Van Driver

Description: This is an hourly, temporary position which operates the school van. Operates school van to transport students, faculty, and others to and from school, field trips, and events. Drives various routes and performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Operates school van in compliance with laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Adheres to established schedules to safely pick up, transport, and discharge students and staff.
- Transports students and staff on special field trips and to and from events and activities.
- Maintains student discipline and safety on the van. Coordinates with the school administration to resolve issues.
- Drives various routes across several counties.
- Completes pre and post drive inspections of the van.
- Fuels the van.
- Responsible for the reports of suspected malfunctioning equipment to the administration.
- Responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of the van.
- Maintains records of operations and required school reports.
- Communicates directly with parents regarding prolonged delays.
- Implements emergency evacuation plans for students as directed by school administration.

- Hourly position for morning and afternoon routes, field trips, and events
- Hours may vary, dependent upon need as determined by the Head of School
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be 21 years of age
Required Licenses and Certification: Possession of a Maryland driver's license is required.
Must be 21 years of age.
Meets and maintains all qualifications and certifications for school vehicle drivers required by state regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of school safety, procedural, and policy guidelines and applicable regulations. Ability to pass a background check. Ability to take care of the school van and related equipment. Ability to travel under various weather related conditions.
