Washington, DC, USA Req #238nnWednesday, November 27, 2024nnASRC Federal Netcentric Technology is proud to support the Census Bureau and is seeking a GIS Technician, Entry-level to support a project focused on maintaining accuracy and completeness of the Census MAF (Master Address File)/TIGER (Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing System). We are seeking an entry-level candidate that is aUS Citizenand has a passion for GIS/Maps.ASRC Federal offers an excellent benefits package that includes tuition reimbursement, certification reimbursement and more. Although this role is primarily remote, it does require residing within commuting distance to Suitland, MD (Census Bureau HQ).nnRequirements:nnCertificate in GIS or an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science or a related fieldnnInternships are a plus.nnCoursework with ArcGIS (workstation and desktop); Arc View, AutoCAD Map.nnGood organizational and communication skills.nnSome knowledge of civil engineering, cartography surveying and drafting.nnExperience with ArcSDE, ArcIMS, Cartography, Imagery, and understanding of Databases is a plus.nnAbility to work as a member of a team.nnAbility to share GIS knowledge with other team members.nnMust be a US Citizen.nnResponsibilities:nnThis is a direct position in GIS data enhancement and maintenance using ESRI and custom GIS software.nnEvaluate, edit, and check street centerline, hydrography, and other data layers (graphics and attributes), using custom map production tools.nnUsing computer software will include revisions and edits of GIS drawings and files. Edits made according to the instructions provided by the supervisors.nnAdditions or deletions of highlighted boundary or shape filesnnReading instruction provided with the shape filesnnReshaping road layers that should not be over lapping with the Hydro layersnnMaintaining live spatial data in a secured environment.nnEditing, modifying, and creating various data layers.nnWill maintain daily production schedule and work with customized data automation tools and proceduresnnWe invest in the lives of our employees, both in and out of the workplace, by providing competitive pay and benefits packages.
