Pay and benefits for employees represented by a union are outlined in their collective bargaining agreement.nnPosition Purpose:nnPerforms a variety of customer service-related work in mechanical, piping, controls and HVAC Chilled Water and Hydronic Heating Systems. The service work includes but is not limited to installation, repair and troubleshooting, and maintenance of customer equipment presently on Boston's District Steam System.nnPrimary Duties/Responsibilities:nnAll activities covered under Mechanic I.nnAbility to perform soldering, burning and to conduct service and repairs such as valve rebuilding, repacking and replacement, reading and interpreting mechanical prints, understanding principles and components of steam, hot water, chilled water and HVAC distribution and basic controls.nnTo test, repair, replace and service major steam, condensate, hot water and chilled water components such as pumps, PRV's, steam traps, heat exchangers and hot water systems.nnProficient understanding and use of all conventional tools and meters to maintain, repair, calibrate and test components found in the systems described above.nnPrepare technical reports to accurately describe conditions and work performed.nnPrepares appropriate service documentation for billing and completion of service orders.nnPrepare work scope and price estimates for project work.nnMaintain and develop good customer relations while promoting the image of the company.nnWork Environment:nnRequired to work in all weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.nnQualificationsnnEducation/Experience/Background:nnHigh School Diploma/GED is required.nn5 plus years of experience working in the trades in a field service role.nnKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:nnRequired to be trained or already trained as an Associated Asbestos Worker to perform related duties.nnRequired adhering to customer and facility rules and regulations.nnRequired Certification/Licenses/Training:nnRequires no less than the following licenses issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts: (1) Journeyman Pipefitter (2) Refrigeration Technician (HVAC) (3) either Electrician or Plumber.nnMust also have a MA driver's license, minimum Class 3 and safe driving record.nnPhysical Requirements:nnRequired to wear a half face respirator or powered air respirators (PAPR) where proper safety procedures warrant their use.nnRequired to lift and / or operate machinery, tools, etc., weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.nnRequired to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, scaffolding and stairs.nnAdditional InformationnnWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer!
