Role Overview
The role focuses on identifying bottlenecks, enhancing scalability, and improving overall system efficiency. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in performance tuning for large Oracle databases, system behavior analysis, and effective communication of technical results to diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Performance Analysis: Evaluate application, system, and database performance across multiple tiers with an emphasis on data tier optimization in cloud and on-premises environments.
- Optimization and Tuning: Implement solutions to address performance bottlenecks, optimize queries, and improve resource efficiency (CPU, memory, I/O).
- Metrics and Reporting: Generate and analyze AWR, ASH, ADDM, and Oracle wait event reports to identify and resolve performance issues.
- Simulation and Extrapolation: Simulate user/system load, analyze component behavior, and extrapolate system performance under full load scenarios.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct detailed root cause analyses (RCA) for performance slowdowns or failures, identifying solutions for sustained improvement.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design, test, and deploy optimized system configurations and processes.
- Documentation and Communication: Prepare technical documentation, metrics, and reports for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive Planning: Evaluate future performance needs based on application usage trends and growth projections.
Qualifications Required Experience
- 8+ years: Application performance analysis across multiple tiers.
- 8+ years: Identifying and solving performance and scalability issues.
- 8+ years: Oracle wait interface and event analysis.
- 8+ years: Performance tuning of large Oracle databases (50+ TB) in AWS and Exadata environments.
- 8+ years: Expertise in SQL tuning, session tracing, and Linux shell scripting.
- 8+ years: Analyzing AWR, ASH, ADDM, and raw Oracle performance data.
- 8+ years: Communicating complex technical results to diverse audiences.
- 8+ years: Knowledge of Oracle database internals related to performance.
- 8+ years: Developing and analyzing metrics to understand system behavior.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with JIRA and Agile sprint methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience with HHS agencies or healthcare systems , including handling PII/PHI data.
- Familiarity with HL7 data and industry best practices in performance engineering.
