Job Description:nnThe Surgical Technologist performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management.nnIt is expected that the Surgical Technologist will support system wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.nnAbout Cassia Regional HospitalnnCassia Regional Hospital is a critical access hospital (CAH) provider, and your nonprofit community hospital in Burley, Idaho. We are passionate about delivering the highest quality care with unmatched compassion, outstanding service and innovative technology.nnAbout the Operating RoomnnWe have four (4) operating rooms at our hospital performing a variety of cases such as: General Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Spine, Endoscopy, Robotics and beginning this fall, Urology.nnShifts and SchedulingnnThe schedule for Surgical Technologist is 6:30AM - 3PM, Monday-Friday, with after-hours call one night/week (3PM - 6:30AM). One weekend, Friday - Monday. Holiday call is 1 time per year. More details about the shift and scheduling will be discussed in the interview.nnThe Surgical Technologist has a pathway opportunity identified for advancement to Surgical Technologist levels II or III.nnJob EssentialsnnEnsures room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.nnMaintains sterile field and safe environment.nnRecognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes.nnPrepares room and instruments for surgical procedure. May assist with sterile processing.nnAssists the surgical staff during the procedure, within the scope of practice.nnAfter procedure, cleans room and prepares for next procedure.nnIdentifies emergency situations and exercises judgment when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies.nnPosting SpecificsnnLevel I Pay Range: $23.25 - $35.89nnLevel II Pay Range: $25.58 - $39.49nnBenefits Eligible: YesnnShift Details: Full Time - 40 hours per weeknnLocation: Operating Rooms - Cassia Regional Hospital (Burley, Idaho)nnShift Details: Schedule will be discussed in interview.nnThis position could be filled as a Surgical Tech II or Surgical Tech III depending on experience and qualifications.nnMinimum Qualifications (Level I)nnBasic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.nnCompletion of an accredited Operating Room Technician program (ORT)nnOr graduated from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months, but not currently eligible to sit for Tech in Surgery exam (NCCT)nnOr two years of scrub tech experience in hospital or military surgical services within the last three years.nnOr International training equivalent and legally authorized to work in the United States.nnIn addition to meeting Level I requirements (above), to qualify for a Level II role, you must also meet the following requirements:nnMinimum Qualifications (Level II)nnBasic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.nnCompetent in Basic Procedures or 1 or more specialty areas and/or facility case mixnnAble to take assigned callnnMust be in good standing.nnPreferred QualificationsnnActive National Certification as an OR Tech in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist. Certification is expected within the timeframe outlined below.nnCertification is required after hire as follows:nnSurgical Technologists who graduated from an accredited program must certify within one year of hire (may use either NBSTSA or NCCT certification).nnSurgical Technologists who have graduated from non-accredited programs or completed on-the-job or military training, need to certify as soon as possible. This can be done upon graduation or, according to the NCCT requirements, take beyond one year in order to meet worked hours (>6000) and case tracking requirements. Managers will need to meet with new hires and determine certification course, projected certification window, and track progress.nnPhysical Requirements:nnOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, sterile indicator tags, colors, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.nnand -nnFrequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.nnand -nnManual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment and instruments with precision and accuracy. This includes computer use and typing for documentation, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.nnand -nnExpected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.nnand -nnNeed to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
