Concrete Finishers must be capable of setting forms, edging, and bullfloating. Concrete Finishers will report to the Concrete Foreman, while also taking direction from the Site Foreman. Team members will closely interact with other trade individuals on site.nnResponsibilitiesnnPour and spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency by using rakes, shovels, hand or power tools and floats.nnUse a float to bring water to surface and produce a soft topping.nnRemove rough and defective spots from concrete surfaces by using a power grinder or a chisel and hammer.nnUse straightedge, float, or power screed to flatten, smooth and form freshly poured concrete.nnPatch holes with new concrete or epoxy compound.nnApply hardening and sealing mixes to cure concrete services.nnStrengthen concrete by installing reinforcement rods.nnUse edging tools, jointers, and straightedges to sprinkle joints and edges and mold expansion joints.nnInspect forms for appropriate structure and set to chosen pitches.nnAbility to direct subgrade work, mixing of concrete and set forms.nnSet forms to suitable elevation.nnPrepare bases and install support materials.nnAbility to properly cut joints and grooves to ensure smooth and level concrete.nnCompress concrete by using power equipment.nnUse power tools, wets and rub the concrete with appropriate stone to ensure clean finish.nnEducation and QualificationsnnHigh School Diploma or GEDnn5 years of concrete finishing experience or completion of apprenticeship programnnMust be able to pass a pre employment drug screening, and if offered a position, any random drug screening if randomly selected.nnMust attend all mandatory safety meetings and participate in discussions with the work crew and any safety personnel on site.nnMust be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required. The average work week would consist of 5 ten-hour days, but schedule will be dictated by project needs.nnMust be able to work out of town, sometimes out of state, and for lengths of time, such as the job would dictate.nnAbility to read understand measuring and leveling toolsnnAbility to follow direction, but be able to self-supervise, when needednnMust be able to compare and see differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.nnWorking ConditionsnnTravel from site to site will be required. Work environment will normally be an active construction site. Exposure to dust, noise, high heat, extreme cold, and rain should be expected.nnEmployee must be physically able to perform repetitive motion and heavy lifting.nnMust be able to maintain effective audio and visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assignednnPhysical DemandsnnMust wear all employer-mandated personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety vests, and safety-toed work boots. Other PPE may be required from time to time depending on special safety concerns. All PPE will be provided by the company at no cost to the employee, other than safetynnMust be able to hear with or without the use of a hearing device and clearly see at least 30 feet with or without the use of corrective visionnnMust be able work while wearing a respirator ifnnAlternate standing and walking on uneven terrain surfaces, such as hillsides, muddy and icy soils, and other working surfaces. Safe negotiation of all types of surface conditions will always be required.nnBending, squatting and kneeling will be required frequently during a workday.nnThe employee must be able to differentiate and / or identify colors.nnMust have knowledge of occupational hazards in this field and standard safety practices. Must be able to pass the 10 Hour OSHA testing and first aid – CPR requirements before starting work.nnWithin one year, employee must be able to obtain OSHA 30-hour status.
