The Colony Management Technician will play a key role in maintaining multiple transgenic mouse colonies, including managing breeding schedules, timed breeding, sample collection for genotyping, and weaning . The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of rodent care, breeding strategies, genetics, and identification techniques. Additionally, the technician will ensure that all activities comply with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards .
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform routine husbandry tasks including cage changes, breeding, weaning, and health monitoring, ensuring compliance with IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee) guidelines.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure personnel and animal safety at all times.
- Assist in the execution of breeding plans for traditional and transgenic rodent colonies, supporting the needs of ongoing studies under the direction of functional area management.
- Collect, enter, and manage data related to colony activities.
- High School diploma required, and 0-3 years job related experience.
- ALAT preferred, or ability to achieve ALAT status within 2 years.
