Job Summary
We are looking for a professional, high-energy bartender with excellent communication skills to serve classical cocktails and exciting new beverages to our customers. The bartender will greet customers, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages and food. You will also upsell items, create recipes, utilize proper equipment and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties. To succeed as a bartender, you should have a neat appearance and an engaging, friendly personality. You should be efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable.
Skills, Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Completion of mixology, barkeeping, or other training required
- A minimum of two years’ related experience
- Extensive knowledge of drink preparation and service
- Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving customers
- Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly and argumentative customers.
- Ability to learn cash register software used by restaurant
- Must be 18 years old to serve alcoholic beverages
- Ability to complete orders quickly and accurately
- Be able to stand, walk, or lift heavy objects (up to 50 Lbs.) for an extended period of time
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Primary Job Duties
- Greet and serve customers in a professional and timely manner
- Prepare alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and other beverages for customers and servers in accordance with standard recipes
- Prepare all condiments to garnish drink orders
- Ensure customers are of legal drinking age by checking photo ID’s.
- Apply knowledge of the full menu, beverages, and other restaurant information such as restaurant hours and types of payment
- Maintain a clean bar at all times wiping bar regularly, disposing of debris and bottles and washing glasses behind the bar as needed
- Check and maintain stock of glassware, beverages and bar supplies and communicates shortages to the appropriate person
- Use proper judgement and, when necessary, refuse service to customers who are intoxicated or disruptive
- Follow proper Steps of Service when guests choose to dine at the bar
- Submit orders or create requisition forms for liquor, beer, and other bar-related supplies
- Process charge transaction through charge transmittal machine and prints, reviews, and submits a daily charge report to the Manager
- Complete all assigned opening and closing duties to prepare bar for efficient operation
- Communicate health and/or safety concerns/violations immediately to management
- Perform other related duties as assigned
