Job Description:
- Assist in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients by performing scrub duties
- Provide assistance in emergency procedures as well as elective and scheduled cases
- Assist in the preparation, transportation, and supervision of patients
- Maintain education in surgical operating room and related aspects of patient care
- Assume accountability for verification of operative procedures being performed
- Take call as scheduled
- Operate flash sterilizer and Steris sterilizer
- Scrub all operative procedures performed
- Apply principles of disinfection and sterilization
- Utilize surgeon preference card and case cart pick list to competently prepare for operative procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of patient identification
- Handle, identify, and deliver all specimens, cultures, implantable devices, and homografts
- Participate in the evaluation of the patient care delivery system
- Operate and maintain equipment according to recommended manufacturers' instructions and policies and procedures
- Assist with clean up and case turnover
- Seek assistance when the situation is beyond the knowledge and experience of the ORT/LPN
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic aseptic techniques
