Thames Street Oyster House is searching for a full time manager to join our team! If you have an outstanding work ethic, attention to detail, dedication to remarkable customer service, hospitality, food and drink, leadership, and a FOH background, we are looking for you to be a part of an amazing team. We have created a very special restaurant culture full of professionals, and are searching for a manager to join us. We are an independent location where ownership is working daily, and where we care about our team and their success.
BENEFITS:
- The restaurant is CLOSED ALL HOLIDAYS and for a summer and winter break
- Excellent employer paid health benefits package including medical, dental and vision, and a free employee assistance program
- Two weeks paid vacation to start (including holidays), three weeks starting in year two, possible biannual bonuses, and a 401k coming soon
- A set schedule, major dining discounts, competitive compensation, sick pay, and we offer a 45 hour maximum full time work week
We care about our people. 5+ years of current fine dining and/or high volume full service restaurant experience is required. Working interview will be part of the process. 55-65k a year starting compensation, based on experience.
Management's job on the floor each day is to ensure that the highest quality products and services are delivered to every guest, while leading and motivating the staff, and maintaining the functionality of the restaurant and business. Management is extremely hands on during service, running the flow and controlling seating and reservations book, overseeing the raw bar, and maintaining quality of service.
We are looking for someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about restaurants, who is poised and well spoken, possesses good writing and communication skills, food and wine knowledge or a willingness to learn, and who naturally pays extreme attention to detail. Again, we have a very hands-on management style, and a willingness to help in any area, whether that be at the hostess stand, supporting a server, expediting in the kitchen, clearing or wiping down a table, mastering the reservation software, and the list goes on. We operate in an historic rowhome on
4 levels with a second floor kitchen, with seating out front on Thames Street, as well as a back patio, so the position is also very physical.
The ability to communicate effectively and motivate in order to better the performance of the staff and the restaurant as a whole is also necessary. Applicant should be skilled in dealing with high pressure situations and the intensity of a restaurant that is busy every shift from open to close. We require patience and composure, great leadership skills, and a positive motivational outlook at all times. Mutual respect, passion, and work ethic will bring success with peers and staff.
DAY TO DAY: As a leader of front of house operations and service, the floor manager would be directly responsible for:
• Help with onboarding, and training of all new staff members in FOH positions
• Managing scheduling and employee communication via 7Shifts
• Monitoring, managing, and purchasing all FOH supplies
• Managing service - overseeing floor plan and reservation platform/maintenance, the front door/host stand during service, special requests, takeout/delivery orders
• Constantly monitoring kitchen progress/efficiency during service so that quantity never overtakes quality in our small back of house space
• Responding to and satisfactorily resolving all guest issues and grievances in a timely and appropriate matter
• Spend service on the floor, updating raw bar menu, evaluating food and beverage quality, points of service, general accuracy and execution, and performance of individual staff members, always teaching and leading
• Participate in manager meeting and lead daily pre-shift meetings, as well as creating a daily sheet of specials and other necessary culinary or operations information for the team each day
• Program the POS for service, monitor time clock, calculate and enter tip distributions and declarations
• Open and/or close the restaurant, complete daily paperwork, balance safe, emails and requests, maintenance, and other assigned tasks as necessary
Thank you for your interest.
