Position Overview
The Commercial Construction Superintendent will be responsible for managing all on-site aspects of construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and a comprehensive understanding of construction processes to successfully lead field operations and coordinate with subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and timelines.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the efforts of subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel to maintain efficient workflow and productivity.
- Scheduling: Develop, maintain, and adjust project schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager to accommodate changes or unforeseen circumstances.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce quality control measures; conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets project specifications and industry standards.
- Safety Oversight: Enforce the company's safety program, ensuring all site activities comply with safety regulations; conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to maintain a safe work environment.
- Budget Monitoring: Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders regarding project progress, addressing any issues that arise promptly.
- Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise during construction, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate daily progress reports, time cards, and other project documentation; ensure all records are up-to-date and submitted timely.
- Inspection Coordination: Coordinate and schedule all job inspections; ensure all work complies with plans, specifications, and local building codes.
- Punch List Management: Ensure project completion with minimal punch list items; proactively address and resolve any outstanding issues before final inspections.

Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction, with a proven track record of managing projects from inception to completion.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED; a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification; First Aid and CPR certifications are advantageous.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction processes, means, and methods, as well as proficiency in safety regulations and quality standards.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in project management (Procore) and scheduling software; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to navigate and work on construction sites, including standing, walking, and climbing as necessary.
